Yeah so the powers that be behind the LHC(the large hardon collider), you know the thing that will one day destroy the earth as we know it, have changed their minds about a few things. The most important being that the black holes the machine could create could be more powerful than first thought!!! Its funny how scientist have always told us there is nothing more powerful in the universe than a black hole and here they are wanting to create small ones here on earth!!!

Are video games killing traditional gaming as we know it?

by admin on Jan.19, 2009, under Uncategorized

More and more I feel that video games are quickly replacing traditional gaming as we know it. Gone are the days of having to dig through a cluttered closet looking for that familiar white, worn edged, rectangular box containing your favorite edition of Monopoly. Instead now you can simply fire up your Xbox and play Monopoly with your friends and family anytime no matter where they are. You can rest easy now knowing you don’t have to worry about if you have enough chips and soda to serve to your guests. It doesn’t end with Monopoly lets not forget the classic card games Uno and Texas Hold’em! Both can be enjoyed in the solitude of your own home while sitting on the couch in your underwear eating a whole bag of delicious Doritios, all the while pwning your friends who are none the wiser to your choice of attire. It seems that none of our favorite classic games we played while growing up are safe. With the upcoming addition of the Hasbro channel for Xbox I will be able to utilize all of my dirty tactics in Battleship while using my favorite red controller to do so! Nothing will say “I’m your daddy!!” better than owning someone at Connect Four when it becomes available. At this rate we will no longer need to cling to our physical remnants of our favorite games, instead simply replacing them 1s and 0s on our hard drives!! What are you thoughts on this? When was the last time you had friends over for a competitive game of Monopoly?

If there is one thing the 360 has been missing for a long time now it’s a good fighting stick! I am sure this is mostly in part to the fact there hasn’t been a huge selection of fighting games to pick from for the 360 but with the recent addition of Street Fighter Turbo HD and the much anticipated Street Fighter IV coming out, that is finally starting to change. In the next few months we will have quite the selection of fighting based peripherals to choose from. Mad Catz, one of the most popular creators of aftermarket controllers for all the consoles is stepping up to the plate with a few different products to fill this void. Not only are they making two new fighting sticks to pick from but they are also making a line of Fightpads.

Fightpad

The Fightpads are pretty much a fighting stick shrunk down to a controller. They have only the bare necessities when it comes to the button selection. Gone are the two analog sticks which have been replaced with one large 8 way directional pad which should make pulling off the coveted HADOKEN hadokenmove a lot easier. In addition to a new D pad the rest of the buttons have gotten a new layout as well. You will find that they are now placed in two rows of three giving it the feel of an arcade stick which will seriously help to cut down on your chance of tangling your fingers up in a heated match. One of the neat features these Fightpads will include is the ability to have separate turbo settings for each of the buttons. If you thought Chun Li’s kick was fast before it’s even more awesome with turbo! Each of the Fightpads will include really neat artwork of some your favorite characters ranging form Ryu to Akuma. I don’t know for sure but I am assuming these controllers will all be wired in order to keep the cost down. The retail price right now is 39.99 and they are expected to be coming out in February along with the release of Street Fighter IV.

Fightstick

For the more hardcore players out there Mad Catz is also creating two different actual fighting sticks. The Fightstick is the cheaper of the two options coming in at 79.99 and has an arcade “style” joystick in addition to the familiar eight button layout. The eight button layout has the newer curved setup to them as opposed to the old school straight design. Like its smaller counter part it also has separate turbo settings for each of the 30mm quick connect buttons.

Fightstick Tournament Edition

If you want something a little more reminiscent of what you would find in an actual arcade they are also making the Tournament Edition Fightstick. Its much larger than the normal Fightstick and comes with different artwork on it. In addition to being larger it will also have real Sanwa components, both the joystick and the buttons will be exactly the same as the ones you would find on a real Street Fighter cabinet in the arcades. This true to life feel comes at a price though, 149.99! It too has the same turbo features as all of the other controllers.

Arcade in a Box

For the truly elite players there is yet another option which is already available. A small company called Arcade in a Box creates what is possibly the most true to life arcade fighting sticks you can get for the 360. Each one is custom built to your liking using the same materials you would find in an arcade. You can pick the button layout, the type of components you want and even pick from a slim style or large bulky manly style. Depending on which configuration you go with the prices range from 149.99 for the bare bones to 179.99 for the maxed out one complete with your own artwork you supply them printed on it! The Arcade in a Box unit is nice because it’s sturdy and has some good weight to it, which is nice when playing with it on a flat surface.

Which ever route you go with it should be a sure win depending on which style and budget you like the most. It’s nice to finally see some options available for the 360 when it comes to fighting game peripherals that could make even the true elitist happy. Look the Mad Catz line up to arrive sometime in February and the Arcade in a Box units are available now.

I’m a team player really I am!!!

by admin on Dec.30, 2008, under Uncategorized

So I was playing L4D versus again last night Nynjatic was on my team and we got paired up with two people who where split screening. It came down to me and one of the split screeners being the only people left. i was mere feet away from the safe room when the other guy got downed by a horde of zombies. i made the decision it was better for at least one of use to make it to the safe room to get us points so i left him there to deal with his own mistake(it was him that set off the car alarm ultimately resulting in his own demise anyway). apparently my decision to do so pissed them off and they actually had the nerve to call a vote to kick me off? screw that!!! you need to learn to deal with your own decisions and you should never set off the car alarm. if you do its your job to deal with it. i will help all i can but when it comes down to you holding all the rest of us back you are on your own!!! i have no problem helping people out along the way but if you stray too far behind because you thought you saw a hot zombie that’s your choice! Also after talking to Nynjatic and giving it some serious consideration i have come to the conlusion that my blog is way cooler than his!

Merry Headshot Christmas

by admin on Dec.24, 2008, under Uncategorized

So I played Left 4 Dead again last night with a few friends and tried out the double weapon melee glitch was quite happy with its results!!!! Its perfect to knocking back hordes of the undead and it actually kills them in the process!! Before everyone ask it’s really easy to do, simply alternate left bumper and the Y button as quickly as you can. It really came in handy when playing versus and hordes would come to attack you. I got to the point to where I was good enough to knock hordes back and kill them without even taking damage!!! We played a full game of versus at one point and did some serious damage to the other team, final score was 7997 to 7XX. I was pretty happy about that!
